HOW IT’S PERFORMED:
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a non-invasive acne treatment that employs blue LED light to activate a photosensitizing agent called 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA). This therapy works by reducing acne through the shrinkage of sebaceous (oil-producing) glands, which decreases the amount of oil in each pore, as acne bacteria thrive on oil. Additionally, PDT directly targets the P. acnes bacteria on the skin's surface, which causes acne breakouts.

The treatment begins with the application the sheet mask, which is allowed to incubate on the skin for up to 15 minutes. This incubation period is crucial, as it allows the photosensitizing agent to penetrate the skin and sebaceous glands. After the incubation, remove any excess product with a wet tissue or towel. Next, blue LED light is applied to the skin for approximately 20 minutes (using the Omega Light) or 10 minutes (with the Omega Dual). This light activates the photosensitizing agent, effectively killing acne-causing bacteria and further reducing oil production.  This treatment ends with a Tea Tree Jelly Mask.

PDT can successfully treat mild to moderate acne in as few as 4 to 8 sessions. Patients often experience improved overall skin texture after treatment, with a reduction in post-inflammatory erythema and hyperpigmentation—the red and brown marks that remain after active acne lesions have healed.
